How to Care for Turkish Carpets So They Last for Years

Simple, practical steps to keep your carpet looking clean and vibrant—without damaging the fibers.

1) Routine Cleaning

Vacuum gently 1–2 times a week using a standard head (avoid aggressive brush rolls for handmade rugs). Rotate the rug every few months so the wear stays even.

2) Handle Spills Quickly

Blot—don’t rub. Use a clean cloth and press from the outside toward the center of the spill. If needed, use mild soap with cold water and test on a small area first.

3) Sunlight & Humidity

Keep rugs away from harsh direct sunlight for long periods to prevent color fading. In humid areas, ensure airflow to reduce moisture buildup.

“A little routine care keeps the texture soft and the colors rich for years.”

4) Deep Cleaning

For handmade carpets, consider professional cleaning periodically—especially for high-traffic areas. Avoid harsh chemicals that can weaken fibers and dyes.
